2006 Atlantic GT Speeball Tournament - Halifax

Tippinators finish 7th in the Halifax stop of the "Golden Triangle (GT) 2006 Series" speedball tournament held at Overkill Sportz Mount Uniacke Nova Scotia on June 3rd, 2006. The GT is a nation wide series of speedball and scenario events that draws in the top players from every region. Tough competition and big prize money are the hallmarks of GT events.

The Tippinators braved the torrential rain, wind and cold along with 15 other 3-Man teams and 10 5-Man teams to play in the largest one day speedball tournament in Atlantic Canada. The team had their best event results to date against an incredibly talented field of some of the best teams in the region. Never having experienced speedball play at this level the team took to the field every game ready for anything; even so the Tippinators had some surprises in store for each other and the crowd. Charon debuted his new finishing move the "Heart Attack", while Juno provided multiple earthquake moments as he taught himself how to slide to a bunker in a kneeling position.

As the rain came down harder, the competition became fiercer as shot accuracy was reduced and barrel breaks became more frequent. It is a tough bunch of paintballers that will stand out in the rain all day waiting to play for 2 or 3 minutes then head back out to stand, shivering, for another 30 or more minutes before playing again, smiling and joking with each other the entire time. The real heroes of the day were the referees. These hearty souls braved the rain and cold longer than any player. The referees were fantastic with all the players and fair calls were shown all day.

Congratulations to all the winning teams of the GT. Not only did you win out against your competitors but you also won out against Mother Nature.
